Information digital conference


– focus on culture, health and inclusive art with inspiration from the Scen:se project



The Scen:se project, Folkteatern Gävleborg and Kultur Gävleborg has invited interesting and pioneering artists, pedagogues, community members and culture mediators from Sweden and the UK. What they have in common is that they in diffirent ways work with the importance of art for children and young peple with complex needs.


This will be a digital conference made in two steps.

Step 1 – recorded online talks.

On Monday October 19th we will release all talks on a website. This will be availiable until November 3rd.

Participating speakers:

Freddie Alcock – Our key-note speaker who will talk about his work as an actor, musician, dancer and artist and what that means to him and how it affects his life. This will be held in English and Gill Brigg will have an introduction.

Anna Pella och Lotta Frecon –Both parents to children with multiple learning disabilities. Anna is an author and a journalist with focus on family life and disabilities. Lotta is a teacher and project manager. They hold workshops together about the challanges and possibilities around family life and disabilities. Their recorded session (with english subtitles) will be a short trailer to their workshop which will be held in Swedish.

Ellie Griffiths – artistic director for Oily Cart Theatre in London. The leading theatre in the UK England that creates performances for children and youth with complex needs. Ellies talk is in english and in conversation with Eva von Hofsten. Her workshop will also be in English.

Veera Suvalo Grimberg – artistic director for Danskompaniet Spinn in Gothenburg who works with inclusive performing arts. Veeras talk is in Swedish but english subtitles are availiable. Her workshop will be in Swedish.

Göran Johansson, Mikael Alfredsson – Works with the project ParaCraft/Life in movement. Their talk will be about their inclusive work with movement and craft and how it can change the lifes of someone with learning disabilities. The project is lead by Parasport Bohuslän Dal together with members of the artists collective Not Quite in Fengersfors. Their talk is in Swedish with English subtitles and the workshop is in Swedish.

Dr. Gill Brigg – dramapedagogue and performance maker who has 30 years of experience from working in special schools in the UK.  She will talk about her work within the Scen:se project. Both the talk and workshop will be in English.

Scen:se – Eva von Hofsten, initiator and project leader for the Scen:se project in conversation with some of the actors, the producer and the dramaturg that has worked with the both performances within the project. The talk is in Swedish but with English subtitles availiable and the workshop is a Q&A session so there is also room for questions in English.
